NetEye 4.41 Release Notes

Welcome to version 4.41 of our NetEye v4 Unified Monitoring Platform.

Spring is just around the corner, and could there be a better time for a hike to the beautiful Lake of Valdurna (Durnholzer See)? Nestled deep in the Valle di Valdurna in Val Sarentino, this triangular alpine lake stretches 900 meters long and 350 meters wide. It is fed by the eponymous stream, which eventually flows into the Talvera, one of the rivers running through Bolzano, 30 km away. Its crystal-clear waters, rich aquatic vegetation, and thriving trout population make it a perfect destination to enjoy nature’s awakening.

General

Enhancements to NetEye Installation, Update, and Upgrade

As part of our ongoing initiatives to optimize NetEye installation, updates, and upgrades, we are excited to introduce Grafana into the parallel automated configuration of NetEye services.

This improvement speeds up the configuration process and represents just one step in our broader, long-term strategy to continuously refine and enhance our procedures.

Upgrade of IcingaWeb2 to version 2.12.2

As part of our long-term vision to enhance NetEye’s security and performance, we are laying the groundwork for important improvements in upcoming releases. We plan, in future releases, to strengthen security by enabling Content Security Policy (CSP) headers, providing an additional layer of protection against potential threats. At the same time, we aim to improve monitoring performance with the introduction of IcingaDB, which will offer a more efficient and scalable way to manage monitoring data.

To move towards these objectives, this release includes a key first step: upgrading to the latest version of IcingaWeb2. This update brings various bug fixes and improvements, ensuring a more stable and up-to-date foundation for future enhancements.

Please refer to the official changelog for a full list of changes.

Upgrade of MariaDB to version 10.11

To strengthen the capabilities of NetEye, we have upgraded MariaDB from version 10.3.39 to version 10.11.10. This upgrade includes various features and bug fixes and enhances InnoDB performance and overall database stability. Furthermore, it establishes foundations for our future migration to Galera, which will enable high availability and database clustering in an upcoming release of NetEye.

For more details on the changes coming with this upgrade, please refer to the official MariaDB Server changelog.

Monitoring

Upgrade of Tornado UI to Vue 3

Tornado UI now runs on Vue 3, bringing faster performance, improved security, and a smoother user experience. The upgrade reduces load times, improves stability, and ensures compatibility with modern technologies.

We’ve also upgraded the JSON editors with error hinting, better syntax highlighting, and an improved UI for easier editing. Editing JSON fields in Tornado has never been more convenient and easier.

With a more efficient framework, we can develop and deliver new features faster. Security enhancements help protect against vulnerabilities and keep your system reliable.

This update ensures long-term support, better usability, and future innovation.

Upgrade of Business Service Monitoring to version 2.5.1

NetEye 4.41 improves monitoring with an upgraded Business Service Monitoring module, which was previously known as the Business Process module. This renaming reflects its expanded capabilities and improved integration. The module update (2.3.1 → 2.5.1) enhances performance, UI, and customization while resolving compatibility issues. For details, see the GitHub release notes.

IT Operation Analytics – Telemetry

Upgrade of Grafana to version 11.5.2

The latest Grafana update introduces exciting enhancements to elevate your observability experience.

Highlights include new scenes-powered dashboards, customizable announcement banners, enhanced canvas actions, support to cross-cluster searches for Elasticsearch data sources and improved alert creation workflows.

For a comprehensive list of updates, please refer to the official release notes.
